I have decided to start searching high and low for whatever little remnants of good news I can find which, in these days of incessant grotesqueness, violence, corruption, venality, mendacity, [ here fill in your own descriptions of the annus horribilis we are living through ] , is a major challenge as, like the TV guy in the movie Network, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” I am fighting the urge to just turn off completely, so will try to let more and more of the effluent pass me by for a while in favor of looking for the little slivers of sun peeking through the storm clouds looming over the world and, in some cases, threatening our very civilization.
So, here goes the first in what I hope will be an intermittent series, designed to send little messages of little hope, as that is the only size our betters seem to have allowed us these days. And the first ray of sunshine comes in the form of an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal yesterday carrying the title The Conservative Case for Optimism, by Daniel Henninger, who is not usually exactly Panglossian in his view of the world. However, he has unearthed several reasons for us to say maybe, just maybe, there might be some real hope over the horizon.
The sub-title is also worth savoring, as it contains thoughts so rare in this time of deep, and getting deeper, recession and overall gloom: “From rampant crime to closed schools, America’s culture is trying to right itself.” He opens with these lines:
Joe Biden may be America’s last happy man, always smiling no matter what. For everyone else, the U.S. is in the dumpster.
Inflation, recession, crime, shortages of everything (now french fries!), wokeism rampant and 401(k)s on a roller coaster. Depressed Democrats didn’t get all the new spending and taxes they wanted, while Donald Trump looms over the Republican Party like a stationary storm cell.
For unhappy progressives we offer no solace. They commandeered one of the U.S.’s two major parties and have little to show. But for conservatives, believe it or not, there is a case for optimism.
He then discusses several instances of good news for the country - and us - including the historic (an overused word, to be sure, but in this case accurate) term of the United States Supreme Court, the recall of the out-of-control Socialist DA in San Francisco, of all places in the world, the possible future recall of the insane DA in Los Angeles, the near-defeat of the far-far-left Governor of the bluest state in the Union, New Jersey, by a Republican, the defeat of the leftist Governor of Virginia by a Republican who promised to put a stop to the tyranny of the teachers’ unions in that state.
He concludes:
A continuum is emerging that equates individual freedom with economic freedom, educational freedom and the freedom to live securely. Led by the voters, America’s culture is trying to right itself. Smiles are permitted.
Please, if you’re looking for a little good news, read the whole column; you’ll be glad you did. As an old and dear friend used to say when offering to buy a second round, “you owe it to yourself!”
God Bless America!

I just saved the WSJ article to archive.ph.
Anyone can do this - with any article - especially if it is pro-conservative. Which is the point, because
most articles that are favorable to reason and clear thinking, are destined to be removed or have been already.
Hi Adm Jim,
It's definitely turning around. When I first went online, I discovered whistleblowers about the vax, about the NWO and thought, "these people are nuts and need tinfoil hats." After reading their posts, I began to investigate. Now, I'm also proving that "it's true."
The best way is to use as many left-leaning sites as you can, to back up the facts. Originally, I didn't see anyone who knew about vax harms or the NWO. Now, there are hundreds who know, who have joined those of us warning other fellow citizens.
I'm retired, so a lot of the "heavy lifting" has fallen on my shoulders. But more could join in - even if it's just one person, an hour a day, it's worth it. We MUST vote the Dems and RINOs OUT - while we still have that ability.
