My Preferred Pronouns: American/American!
Trigger warning: If you are a veteran this video might make you gag.
This is painful to watch for so many reasons, for me not the least of which is that I was proud to serve my country in the United States Air Force.
Here is a transgender Air Force Lt. Col. - it makes me sick to write those words — pronouncing what I assume must be official Department of Defense policy:
“Share your pronouns in your email, particularly if you are a person that doesn't think they need to.”
Where to start? It is hard to state in clear terms what I think about this kind of madness which is becoming the central focus of our military instead of - pardon me if I sound painfully naive— winning wars without totally abandoning any sense of civility. I’m so old I remember the days when that was the - THE- central reason we had a Department of Defense and, like it or not, for the next eight months both Xi and Putin will be sorely tempted to test us while we have a nursing home resident playing the role as “President.”
But perhaps one brief illustration will suffice. I was recently asked on a form to state my preferred pronouns. My answer:
American/American.
God Help Us, and
God Bless America!
Bravo, Steve! We think alike!
These are my nouns and pronouns. Sir, madame, he, she, male, female, sister, brother, wife, husband.
