Gratitude!
We have so much to be thankful for with the inagauration of a real President it is almost impossible to keep up with the blessings which have flowed from this bewilderingly beautiful event, to adapt President Trump’s own style of language.
I was prompted to think about the whole question of gratitutde by a superb essay entitled How About Gratitude which noted that Americans are not nearly as grateful as they once were for the blessings of their country. The whole catalogue of issues leading to this sorry state can be found at commentary.org, although it is not exactly uplifting reading- but all true.
Here, for example, is the new calendar of this incredible new era-a new Golden Age- we are now witnessing being born:
Here’s just the tiniest little list of epoch making changes President Trump has initiated in TWO WEEKS (sorry if I missed some completely mind-boggling new development in the last few hours such as, for example, Gaza becoming the new Riviera of the Middle East or the pronouncement of the policy of the United States that Iran will not even get close to having a nuclear weapon!):
And speaking of gratitude, here’s a brief discussion of some uninvited guests who are very shortly goingto be receiving a little lesson in that current phrase FAFO, the meaning of which I leave to your own research but it has something to do with not being a total ingrate for all the generous things we American citizens have freely given you:

I want to live in America!
I like to be in America!
O.K. by me in America!
Everything free in America
For a small fee in America!
…
Automobile in America,
Chromium steel in America,
Wire-spoke wheel in America,
Very big deal in America!
From Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story
Nothing says “I want to live in America” more than protesting for two days in Los Angeles, causing massive traffic jams for hours, and inconveniencing thousands of parents and commuters.
Nothing says “I want to live in America” like burning the American flag and proudly waving your foreign home country’s flag, while participating in said illegal protest.
These invaders are not only criminal, they are drop dead dumb. One would think that with President Trump’s known predilection for preserving sovereignty, securing the border, and prosecuting criminals, the bad guys would lay low. But, no. They cannot stop their aggressive attacks on innocent citizens. Thus, their evil, brazenly displayed, will quickly lead to their extradition.
For decades, these illegal ingrates have shown not one iota of thankfulness for the food provided to them by the American taxpayers. These illegal ingrates are not thankful for the housing they’ve received from American taxpayers. And, these illegal ingrates are not even thankful for the healthcare benefits for which we’ve paid. Incredibly, these illegal ingrates are not even appreciative of the education willingly given by the United States’ hard-working citizens to their children.
Finally, after leeching off the American taxpayers for decades, taxpayers they deride, their bill has come due.
President Trump and his competent band of super heroes are the serious adults for whom America has been thirsting. They are smart, well-educated, hard-working, and successful. They are diverse racially, religiously, and ideologically. Trump doesn’t care. He wants results, not a social media profile. DEI is DOA in MAGA world. Effectiveness and competence are what matter.
President Trump has given us back the America that takes pride in its roots, its founding documents, its history and blend of cultures. He has set a high bar. America will surpass it.
Because, we want to live in America!
President Ronald Reagan, clearly one of the greatest Americans who ever occupied the Oval Office, is believed to have said: “If you were lucky enough to be born in America, you were lucky enough!” That —and he— has always been my guiding star, my North Star, my true love of the United States of America and I have never been bashful about proclaiming it from the highest rooftop (except for the fact that I have grown too aged to climb on rooftops again), I treasure the Old Glory proudly flying on my flagpole in my front yard and I respectfully turn on its light each and every night, I care for it according to the rules for respecting the American Flag, I tear up every time I hear the National Anthem, (maybe, honestly, except for some of the more egregious recent renditions), I actually applaud when my beloved Blue Angels go streaking by at 400 mph in their iconic Diamond formation knowing they will never hear these feeble little sounds but important sounds nonetheless, and I am thrilled beyond measure to, once again, have a President who cherishes his country so much he expresses it in this way:
A new Golden Age for America? What possible reason would anyone who loves America think otherwise?
It is said there is an old Chinese saying along the lines of “ May you live in interesting times” which is said to an adversary, not a friend, and definitely not as a loving or generous thought. Well, I will adapt that thought to a more benelovent meaning, as we are clearly living in some of the most interesting times in American history, and they offer the most solid hope for optimism for our Republic in many, many decades.
Let us be grateful for them. They were a long time coming.
God Bless America!

God is blessing America. Thankful for Trump.
