Mike Walker was one of those rarities in the life of a Trial Lawyer- a man of such distinguished honor, ethics, professionalism, cordiality all combined with a level of ability and competence unmatched, in my view, in the entire Bar of Louisiana who became a good friend although we were usually on opposite sides of the case. He has written what I consider to be a brilliantly succinct summary of the sheer madness of the recent Pelosi 1.5 trillion dollar spending (pork handout) bill - and I thought you might like to receive the benefit of his analysis, although not for the faint of heart:
While galling to anyone with a functioning mind, it is nonetheless to note that the $1.5 Trillion government spending bill includes appropriations for these items:
• $286 million for Planned Parenthood and up to $200 million to promote abortions abroad.
• $3.2 billion in subsidies for green energy and $78.3 million for green initiatives at the Department of Agriculture.
• $172 million for disaster relief for other countries.
• $9.5 million to support “diversity, equity and inclusion” at the United States Agency for International Development and $4 million to establish an Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the State Department.
• $220 million for the Kennedy Center and the National Gallery of Art.
• $45 million for great apes living in central Africa and Indonesia.
• No provisions to halt implementation of Risk Rating 2.0, a Federal Emergency Management Agency plan that raises flood insurance premiums on Louisianians.
The White House has failed to send Congress a formal request for Louisiana disaster aid, without which Senate Democrats are not expected to approve additional disaster funding. Irony: the bill appropriates $172 million for disaster relief FOR OTHER COUNTRIES, but not for Louisiana. Senator Kennedy filed an amendment for same, but it was blocked by Senate Democrats. Our Democrat friends in Lake Charles, New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana, victims of Laura, Delta, Ida et al should remember this at election time.
I submit that Planned Parenthood and the “United States Agency for International Development,” and most of the other appropriations mentioned here are merely conduits for laundering our tax dollars to divert them to friends of the power elite in government.
The nation’s priorities are stuck in Washington’s fallopian tubes.
