A colleague on Ricochet posted this strange story which illustrates how far censorship is going in America (and apparently in many other countries as well) and how deeply rooted it is in our country. Here’s the gist of his story with highlights from his post:
An old girlfriend of mine from high school posted a picture on Facebook. It looked like this:
I found this odd, since my old friend has never posted anything more violent than pictures from her kids’ birthdays. I wondered if she had changed occupations from “elementary school teacher’s assistant” to “Muslim terrorist”, although this would seem a bit out of character for her. This is what appeared after I clicked “Learn more”:
While the sweet part of the message is the beauty of this magnificent image and the perfect, in my humble opinion, prayer it conveys not least, I will have to admit, because these are similar to the words I include in my prayers every single night, as we are truly in a fight against pure evil.
But how bitter a pill it is to have to swallow, and how insulting to our intellegence, that the Royal Prince of Facebook, the oligarch Zuckerberg, only recently let the world know he really, really, really didn’t want to do all that censoring he had his company do in the past, including but clearly not limited to the election interference which almost certainly put the nightmare in office we are now burdened with but that “the government made him do it.” If you believe that I’ve got some beachfront property in Montana I’ll sell you real cheap.
The author of the post closes with this line:
Americans should be paying close attention to what is happening here…
The good news is that a very quick visit to Facebook reveals that several people have posted this egregious blank page with the condescending note for all of us ultra-ultra-ultra MAGAs who are too stupid to protect ourselves from the “violent” emotion known as — gasp!—- Patritotism and all the “graphic content” we engage in to show just how much we love this, the greatest Nation ever created in history.
Some of the comments to the Ricochet post indicate that maybe this is not the fault of any of Zuckerberg’s employees (a/k/a the censorship department or perhaps more accurately “The Ministry of Truth”) but is just a stray algorithim here and there and maybe nothing more than an occasional little problem. In saying the following, bear in mind that what I know about IT, computer technology and those pesky algorithms (whatever they may be as I have not a single clue) you could put in a thimble it seems to my painfully simple mind that if Plutocrat Zuckerberg owns Facebook he also owns those algorithims and unless we are truly living in Mr. Orwell’s dystopia, he should be able to tell those little rascals to stop censoring our free speech. For those who are still not persuaded, see the offer of the beachfront property in Montana, above, which still stands.
God Help us.
God Bless America!
